HOW can you listen to this wonderful piece of music and not think of a sleigh ride through the snowy Russian countryside? Or at least of Woody Allen being led through the Russian countryside by the grim reaper…
Bliss.

Indeed! A great piece of music.
But I was rather hoping you were going to submit a chronological countdown. From the year 8 AD to now. You did advertise 2000 years of the greatest Christmas music.
We’ve all been waiting eagerly!
Well, I have.
Also, These lists usually come in 100’s. Did I miss the previous 76?

Its a fine piece, thats happy and makes you feel free as we used to be.
So listen and be taken back to when times were better when we had money at Christmas.
We could go to the pub for a Christmas drink and a cigar.
We could drink wine without warning labels on the bottle.
We could walk to the post office in the snow to post our parcels, but sadly its now closed.
We always shopped in Woolworths on Christmas Eve as our fathers and our fathers fathers before them had. Sadly this will be the last year.
When we used to afford to heat our homes properly ” Then a poor man came in sight gathering winter fuel” todays pensioniers
You could write to your MP knowing it was confidential but sadly no more as the police may take the data.
Ah yes its lovely to be reminded of better times in the past. The only thing we have left is a general election to look forward to.

Is this some new way to boost the economy? Making people buy songs on iTunes?

Happy memories of a happy place I used to live (England). Now all gone and in such a short space of time. When do people start disappearing from the street corners?

So I click on the link, expecting to hear the tune, but instead am told that I don’t have iTunes and need to download it. “Hang on, I’m not doing that,” think I, so I swiftly surf over to http://www.grooveshark.com/ and search for Troika and lo! do I find it (second result) and can play it.
Can I link to it? Nope, but there’s a link next to it so Tom can embed it. “Hmmm, maybe I should suggest he do just that,” think I, so I’m back to tell you about it!

Thank you for the recommendation. Now that VAT is reduced, I shall go out and buy it. Great art always transcends politics.

Oh, no need to go as far as Russia – just hitch the rottweiler to a Tesco’s trolley and career around the suburbs of Hastings:

Do you mean the Souter Finnegan & His Orchestra version. Not sure about the first name spelling.
Can I add Midnight in Moscow?

Bangs head after wondering why 24.
It’s the 24th because its Advent.

A gold watch to the man at the back! Yes, this is my own way of marking the countdown to Christmas. I’ll try to find YouTube videos for as many of my choices as possible, as well as an iTunes link.

Oy Vey,I think you’re right
Happy Chanukah!!

Brilliant! Wish my brain worked as well as yours.

A good one, but I hope you are going to give Cliff Richard a wide berth. If “Mistletoe and Wine” or Heaven forbid, his rendition of the “Lord’s Prayer” appears, I shall personally apply to have you put on Santa’s Naughty list.

It’s not often I find myself agreeing with Wrinkled Weasel!
Must be nearly Christmas! Goodwill to all.
