JON Stewart is one of the wittiest and most insightful of American commentators, and he’s once again managed to percolate all the nutty views of the anti-Obama right wing into this brilliant analysis.
Watch the whole video, and make sure you catch what Sean Hannity says to the crazy female politician at the end of her interview:
HANNITY: Keep it up, Congresswoman, you’re doin’ a great job. I have no doubt They’ll keep attacking you because you’re so effective.
CRAZY LADY: Thank you. We’re going to fight for our freedom.
HANNITY: Yes, against tyranny…
Ri-i-i-ight…
Hang on a minute there, Sparky… Hannity, Hannity… that name sounds familiar… where have I heard it before? Ah, yes! He was the interviewer to whom Tory MEP Daniel Hannan gushed: “It’s a huge honour to be on your show…”
I’m sure it is, especially when there’s so much interest in black helicopters these days…

So ok, you have had a break but, have you been on Gallifrey?
As displacement behaviour, this sucks.
Your best mate,

Have you caught any of Glenn Beck’s ‘highlights’ yet?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txPDQ2jNCHk&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo%2Egoogle%2Eco%2Euk%2Fvideosearch%3Fq%3Dglenn%2Bbeck%2Bgasoline%26hl%3Den%26emb%3D0%26aq%3Df%23&feature=player_embedded
He makes Hannity sound like the voice of reason.
Fox News – We report, you deride.

You obviously don’t think Obama is as controlled by the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, et al, as his recent predecessors were.
He just got to be President because he’s black* and cool and really cares and probably could walk out of a phone booth and fly.
Ok-a-a-a-a-y.
Maybe you could do some research into FEMA camps.
*Half white, but that’s not so cool.

Hannity? Pfft. If you want entertainment then look at Glenn Beck! That guy is psychotic! I seriously think he should be on some kind of prescription medication. Frighteningly weird, that one.

I get confused about this spinning thing, Tom. Is your post some sort of anti-UK Conservative spin thing? Or is it an anti-Republican spin thing – a USA political party which is, of course, very different from the UK Conservative Party? (A red rag to John Bull, perhaps?)
Or is your post some sort of spin about (or should that be smear?) Daniel Hannan’s interview on Fox News? (See http://devilinthedetail.blogspot.com/2009/04/right-wing-blogger-defends-daniels.html)
Having said all that Stewart is totally brilliant.

Enough with the Daniel Hannan stuff Tom please.
Pretty please with sugar on top!

It really does say something about the level of discourse you engage in that you that you think Stewart’s a “commentator”. He’s a comedian; in the U.S., his show airs on Comedy Central, and he constantly mocks any notion that people should tak him seriously.
He makes prescient points from time to time, yes; but Bush-bashing for the lolz is not commentary.

Oh, I forgot to ask what does this mean?
“…..especially when there’s so much interest in black helicopters these days…”
Black helicopters? Is there a story, Tom?
Wednesday 15 April 2009 at 7:04 am
Oh, there is nobody on FOX News who is worth listening to Tom (except mebbe Shep Smith, and even that’s a stretch). That’s why I couldn’t watch Hannan, I’m allergic to that “news” channel.
The crazy congresswoman is no better – her name is Michelle Bachmann and she advocates a weird McCarthyist method of interviewing politicians and deciding which of them is “Pro-America” or “Anti-America” (and Obama is clearly anti-America because he’s a SOSHULIST… and also a fascist at the same time BTW, don’t ask.).
Watching FOX News and the GOP will give you a new-found respect for UK politics. Even the Tories aren’t that insane.
Wednesday 15 April 2009 at 7:11 am
To be honest Tom I am far more concerned at what is happening in Britain and to our people as the government should be.
Wednesday 15 April 2009 at 9:01 am
Hannan is obviously an important Conservative politician who is clearly part of Cameron’s inner circle.
Oh, he’s not an MP. he’s an MEP.
That’s all right then: obviously an important person.
(Tom, I still have not seen/heard his speech. You are getting obsessed with a bit part player who is offstage…)

Not to criticise a free thinker, but you may have noticed the rest of country moved on from hannity some time ago.
Or is this one of those “don’t mention the war” things.

@ Weasel 1.12 a.m. Do you realise that comment makes you sound like a creepy stalker?

Faux News is relevant to the UK, given what Murdoch said to the House of Lords Communications Committee –
“Mr Murdoch stated that Sky News could become more like Fox without a change to the impartiality rules in the UK. For example, Sky had not yet made the presentational progress that Fox News had. He stated that the only reason that Sky News was not more like Fox News was that ’nobody at Sky listens to me’.”
What chance a British Hannity, Beck or O’Reilly if Jeremy Hunt becomes Culture Secretary? Or maybe Telegraph TV will make a claim. Imagine Simon Heffer on a 60″ high-def plasma!! Scary.

Have you been reading the McBride 10 Step Guide to Smearing Opponents?
Step 9 – Being Polite To Interviewers
“If an Opponent is invited to speak on TV and then shows some common courtesy by thanking the host for the invite, use that to paint Opponent as sharing exactly the same views as news channel (only use if beneficial, if Opponent appears on BBC then ignore)”
Step 10 – Make It Up
“If you really can’t find any dirt, just make it up. Sex and drugs are the biggest taboos. The more you make up, the more chance one rumour might stick”
Wednesday 15 April 2009 at 10:02 am
Johnny Norfolk you are such an incredibly boring person. If you’re having dinner and the missus asks you how your day’s been, do you reply “to be honest I am far more concerned at what is happening in Britain and to our people”
“Did you pay the gas bill Johnny?”
“The gas bill is a trifling matter with respect to the mess New Labour has landed Britain in and as such we can’t discuss it here. The only matters available for discussion are whether or not we are in a mess with regards Britain.”
