LISTEN to the noise made by Diane Abbott as Keith Vaz welcomes Alan Johnson to his new post. Disgraceful. But I did laugh.

Clearly sucking up noises, not farting noises!
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 7:27 pm
Diane Abbot’s hatred for Tony Blair used to be her distinguishing feature.
It’s good to see she now has another.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 7:43 pm
I totally concur, Keith Vaz is a disgrace.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 7:45 pm
I didn’t say that and, in case you read this blog, Keith, disagree.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 7:48 pm
Nevertheless it is heartwarming to see someone from as humble beginnings as Postie Johnson achieve one of the highest offices in the land.
And allwith without the help of union patronage. Delete as appropriate.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 8:03 pm
Isn’t Dianne Abbott one of the Campaign Groupies, albeit with a privately educated son? They are sounding better by the day, what with sensible policies and a sense of humour.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 9:17 pm
Tom, if you think THAT was bad, and I agree it was – she’s also wriggling around on the bench like some creature on heat – did you see her on the Andrew Neil sofa show a few nights ago?
This excuse for an MP said “if you are being bullied it’s your own fault”!!!
If Michael Portillo had said that SHE would have been right down his throat, accusing him of being a right-wing, uncaring Tory.
Interesting how she has NOT been taken up for this by the mainstream press.
But of course she’s some kind of hero to them for calling Blair all the names under the sun.
Idiot.
Oh, please God (if there is a God) rid Parliament of such vile, self-serving creatures.
I have written about her bully denial at the blog.
Saturday 13 June 2009 at 9:38 pm
Yeah, good laugh. Three charmers:
Alan Johnson: social engineer, especially likes re-educating children.
Diane Abbott: still trying to legalise abortion in N. Ireland despite protestations from all parties and religions there.
Keith Vaz: mired in sleaze involving the Hindhja brothers, false allegations that led to his suspension from the Commons, etc.
They might as well have a good laugh at our expense. It’s not like they benefit the country in any way.

Blairsuppository:
Awwww!
You still love him.
How sweet! LOL

Does your mother know you’re playing with computers, S***Hunter?
In case you don’t know, our host here Tom, he of good taste and political nous, “loves” He Who Walks on Water probably as much as I do.
It’s actually admiration rather than love, but I recall you don’t understand anything but extremes of emotion.
So what the he** are you doing here? They’re generally well-balanced on Tom’s blog.
Cif-ers got too samey for you?
Btw, there’s a song about “love” at my blog right now. Go and sing along with it.
“…and I’ll send you away …”
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 9:23 am
What’s wrong with the word hell?
Why he**?
We say heaven, not hea***
What’s the problem?
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 9:59 am
It wasn’t even your post, Liberanos, or are you Blair Supporter’s alter ego?
Or should that be Blai** Supporter seeing as we’re not swearing.
Is this why your name doesn’t link to anything?
Have you checked the IP addresses, Tom?
Have a good day, everyone.

Tom, if I can make a semi serious comment here. Diane Abbott is my local MP in Hackney and could never stand her or her policies. However she is on the political review show with Michael Portillo and Andrew Neil after Question Time, plus taking the Mickey bliss out of Keith Vaz in Parliament, as a person I am warming to her considerably. You and Kerry McCarthy run your blogs which diverge from dry poltical debate, are often witty, erudite and humane. Come on guys I’m beginning to have too much respect for you and dare I say grudging like you too. As my school report usually said, must do better.

@Stewart Cowan
Oh. Did I comment on someone else’s post?
How odd of me.
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 11:07 am
To Stewart Cowan.
No Liberanos has nothing whatsoever to do with me as Tom’s IP stats will show. Except that he and I are in agreement that Abbott’s favourite pastime used to be blasting Blair. Liberanos might even agree with those attacks, as many do. He doesn’t actually say.
And why would I question myself as to my use of asterixes on “hell”. I’ll tell you why I used them. I find that it is better to discourage any language that might lead others to use even worse language. I can’t see the point of it. It lowers the tone of the argument. Sorry if that sounds pompous.
But since S***Hunter is trolling along here … well nuff said.
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 11:31 am
@Blair Supporter
Certainly don’t support Diane Abbot’s attacks on Blair.
And I do dislike swearing on a grown-up site.
My rather flippant point was that neither heaven nor hell seem to fit into that category.
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 11:33 am
To Dave Atherton,
So are you “warming to Abbott considerably” following her remarks about “bullying” too on Andrew Neil’s This Week?
I stll think it was a disgraceful statement to make. Bullying can impact on people for life and often ends in breakdown, even suicide. But this MP says it is the fault of the “bullied”.
Why don’t others on here judge her on THAT and not on whether they laughed at her noises in parliament or her hatred of Blair? Or, of course her love for Brown?
It all adds up, to me anyway, to an unbalanced individual who should NOT be repesenting anyone.
It doesn’t look as though they archive for later online viewing ALL their programmes at the This Week site, which is a pity or I’d link you to it. But believe me, she said it.
They do have a link to her slurping video though, and I think this was the programme in which she berated the bullied.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/this_week/8096835.stm
So THAT’S the ‘This Week’ priorities at their website, it would seem.
I take that as indicative of THEIR values.
A gloss-over job – we smile, therefore we do not weep.
Sunday 14 June 2009 at 6:23 pm
Here’s this week’s This Week, with Ms. Abbott saying bullying is the fault of those bullied.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00l2sbh/This_Week_11_06_2009/ About 35 minutes, I think.
We can rest assured that if a Sir Bufton Tufton figure had made such remarks, the press & Labour (people like Ms. Abbott) would have been all over it.
Monday 15 June 2009 at 10:40 am
I think Diane Abbott was talking about the girlies who recently ran from office in an attempt to bring down the current PM and claimed they’d been bullied. Its possible she was mocking them and not speaking generally about genuine bullying. And let’s face it Caroline Flint hit the papers again last week explaining that she hadn’t really meant………..(yawn). Hazel hit the papers too explaining that she hadn’t really meant………(even bigger yawn). Ultimately both are now back-peddling, which really says it all. The coup didn’t happen, it was all staged and they’re both out of jobs. Shame.
Abbott is a strange one, especially on This Week. I hate the gushing manner she adopts when she speaks and the way her eyes go up and down. (I think she must believe it looks very dramatic.) Plus, she is always all over Portillo although that’s understandable as he may no longer be in politics but he’s a smart cookie. Diane doesn’t see many of those in her Party.

To Bob Jones & to Jo,
Thanks for the video link, Bob. It says it does not seem to be working at the moment, so I’ll try later.
And to Jo – maybe you’re right. That IS possible, of course. I was only half watching the programme, so I can’t be 100% sure. But even if she WAS referring to the female MPs it is never right in principle to say that it is THEIR fault for allowing themselves to be bullied.
As I referred to at my blog bullying can have devastating effects on anyone from the humblest and weakest of us to the presumed toughest and most powerful, such as a prime minister.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-488794/Tony-Blair-Im-like-abused-bullied-wife.html
We’ll know quite what Abbott meant once we’ve checked out the video.
