WAS it only 12 short months ago when I first earned the disdain of some fellow Labour bloggers by courting votes in the Total Politics Blog Poll Awards?
Well, I’ve learned my lesson, so this year I’ve decided not to canvas shamelessly for votes. Simply visit here and list your top ten blogs and we’ll see how the results pan out.
The important thing for any blogger, of course, is not to seek the praise of others, but simply to accept it if it comes.
I shall, of course, be submitting my own top ten faves, which I’ll publish here in due course.
On a more serious note, I do think the attitude of some to these awards is a bit po-faced and unjustified. Who else in the UK is willing to sponsor or support a prestigious scheme to recognise the importance of blogging? Until that alternative, cross-party sponsor emerges, all political bloggers should enjoy taking part in these awards, and remember that no-one outside the blogosphere takes us anywhere nears as seriously as we do.

What you have to rememeber at all times when reading anything written by Tim Ireland is that he is, in the words of the MPs expenses office, a humourless ████.
You work it out.

I have voted – always do. I am happy to share my top ten and will name them not necessarily in the order I voted. I read others (I am a political anorak)for example Guido, Slugger O’Toole, Frank Field, Labour List, Labour Home etc but concluded they should not be in my top 10.
Tom Harris
Paul Flynn
Iain Dale
Political Betting
Spectator
FT Com Westminster
Ben Brogan
Alasdair Campbell
Hopi Sen
I Spy Strangers
I do not necessarily agree with these blogs but nevertheless feel that they contribute to the political debate.

As much as I generally hate you, your blog is one of my favourite reads. So I did vote for you in the end.

Shame you are linking to Tim Ireland who seems to have a bit of a thing about Iain Dale – and not in a good way. He is boycotting this I think because he knows he will not do well in a vote.

I would vote, but don’t know 10 blogs… And not allowed to vote unless you have 10… (only read 3, this, toryrascal’s and torybears’)
