KEEP a look out in The Guardian‘s vacancy pages in the next couple of weeks for a Head of Media for the LibDems.
Apparently, Clegg’s keynote speech to conference was planned for this morning and for reasons best known to themselves was switched to this afternoon – at the same time as President Obama’s address to the United Nations. A difficult choice for the discerning viewer, eh?*
Hat-tip to Paul Waugh.
* No.

It was a clever tactic, as now no-one can critique the speech for the blatant nonsense!
I’ll let you decide which one!

Well I’ld just put on a Donald Duck dvd
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 4:57 pm
Well planned like the mansion tax.
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 5:16 pm
I should reserve comments like this for AFTER the Labour conference!!(and I speak as a Labour supporter).
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 6:05 pm
Tom, what’s your view on this
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 6:10 pm
Rab – Outrageous. I feel a letter to the Chief Constable coming on.
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 7:49 pm
It was quite funny when all coverage evaporated to the UN. Poor Clegg…
Wednesday 23 September 2009 at 7:57 pm
Very easy choice for the discerning viewer.
Watch neither.
I couldn’t quite bring myself to ‘believe’ in the Obamessiah.

Nick Clegg thinks he’ll be Prime Minister. Ah, bless.

I assume that our Beloved Leader had a long conversation with the TV set on a one-to-one basis whilst frantically trying to work out why Obama Beach wasn’t replying to him ?
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 10:15 am
They both talked about things they’d like to do but will never have the power to.
Don’t see the difference.
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 1:19 pm
OK, next question – will Beloved Leader go before or after Baroness Scotland ?
You know the writing is on the wall when leading articles start “Gordon Brown had to deny Westminster rumours yesterday that he could quit on health grounds as party strife shattered his hopes of a
smooth run-in to the Labour conference.”
from: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6846771.ece
Maybe it’s a MP who happens to watch Doctor Who plotting to get rid of Harriet Jones like figure ?
“Don’t you think she looks tired ?”

I certainly hope somebody intervenes over the Stasi (Strathclyde) Police affair. Who is actually in charge of them?
Meanwhile, TWO more rats leaving the sinking ship this week?
Now only two kinds of Labour MP are staying in Government – the absolute no-hopers who were picked because nobody else would do the job and those who are busy positioning themselves for the leadership of the party after the massacre (sorry, election).
OOps, sorry what was this topic about? Some minor party. Wasn’t Paddy Ashdown in it once?
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 5:56 pm
I see my early-morning post was not seen fit to grace your blog (possibly with good reason, I was somewhat angry when I wrote it)….
Suffice to say I am *very* displeased with the reported actions of Strathclyde Police, and also somewhat peeved at the Telegraph writers for suggesting it had something to do with Mr. Salmond, as opposed to some jumped-up little nitwit at Strathclyde Police.

Tom
For someone who believes the Lib Dems are no-hopers, you seem to be expending a lot of blogs on their useless plight. Either you’ve nothing else to talk about, or they are indeed a threat to many Labour seats. What is it to be??
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 8:09 pm
Seriously, Andrew, it’s neither – they just irritate me and they’re incredibly easy to wind up. As you’ve just confirmed.
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 8:58 pm
Ah, but Tom..
You misread me. I only vote Lib Dem tactically, to ensure the Tories don’t get in!
It’s the FPTP voting system I have a problem with. Even your ‘real’ leader, PM, has a slight issue with it.

[...] Fitaloon didn’t buy into the LibDem Leader’s Prime Ministerial aspirations, and Tom Harris was amused at the clash between Clegg’s speech and President Obama’s speech at the UN [...]
