UNLESS Dave was reneging on a previous commitment to make Britain worse, this headline from the BBC website is pretty meaningless.

That wasn’t one of his promises, but he will.
Of course, the same goes for you lot if you get in again.

I haven’t been able to watch any of the manifesto launches, fortunately because I can’t imagine watching them and keeping lunch down.
I wish I knew how he’s going to make it better. Taking it on a long holiday to get some sea and sun might be an idea.
Clueless rubbish from someone who hasn’t the vaguest idea what it’s like to be poor, to not have staff, to not be able to buy whatever you want when you want to.
And looking at their front bench, there’s only Ken Clarke worth a cabinet job. The rest scare me silly.
I though, mind you, it was a bit disingenuous of Labour to have Iain Gray at their launch telling everyone what his policies were…. as if the vote in May will produce better schools and shorter waiting times in hospitals…
Sneaky, I thought.
Interesting that a poll shows big numbers wanting a hung parliament.

suppose they could have left it at ‘cameron is “not labour”‘.

I saw the Tory PPB tonight. Nice woman on it who ran a soup kitchen. Not sure what the message was though – is Dave promising more soup kitchens under the Tories ?

That last word is a misprint. It should read ‘wetter’. Because Cameron is a right drip.

Tom: the link you supply led me to a headline that said “Cameron: Tory manifesto will change Britain for better” and not “Cameron to make Britain better”. Have the BBC changed their headline or did you give the wrong link?

This morning’s BBC headline is “Lib Dems to unveil ‘fair’ pledges” which is possibly even more meaningless. What are fair pledges? A promise of free rides at Alton Towers? Are they pledging to give us the same future fair that Gordon has already promised, except it will be better in some way? Or maybe the BBC misspelt ‘fare’ and the Lib Dems are promising ‘fare pledges’ of cheap train travel for all. Which wouldn’t be a bad idea actually.
I can’t help thinking that politicians who talk about fairness for all are trying to deceive us. I’m short, ginger and wear thick glasses. What can any party possibly do to make life fair for me?

There is manifestly plenty of room for improvement so it is not meaningless. Whether it will prove to be true is another matter, but not being Gordon Brown is an excellent start.

Tom,
We, the electorate, have to wade through this kind of incessant nonsense all the time (and it’s just around elections.)
Please, please stop drawing attention to the most banal utterings from Westminster village.
It gives me a headache.
