WHILE exiting BBC Scotland’s Atlantic Quay headquarters last week, I bumped into Billy Boyd (above, right), the Scottish actor who played a Hobbit (either Merry or Pippin, not sure which) in The Lord of the Rings.

I introduced myself and we chatted during the short walk to the car park. I confessed to being a “Rings” fan and then added: “I think you’re excellent in Lost.”

Okay, I didn’t really, but admit it — that would have been a funny line.
